Mayan Resort, Turneff Reef, Belize
This eco-resort is planned for the pristine Black Bird Island. The entrance to the resort is through a pier where guests are greeted by an elegant reception and restaurant building next, to the large swimming pool on the beach. Forty independent casitas provide privacy and a quiet independent experience.
Energy is generated with photovoltaic panels as well as with wind generators, water is collected in cisterns, and an RO system is designed to provide drinking water. The high ceilings, fenestrations, and orientation of all the buildings eliminates the need for air conditioning. A large fruit and vegetable garden provides fresh produce most of the year.
